ILLEGALLY TRANSPORTING OVER 150KG OF WILD ANIMALS ON BUS

November 24, Dak Lak Province Police handed over files and evidence of over 150kg of wild animals to Ea H’leo District Police for investigation, clarification and legal proceedings. 

The night before, November 23 at Km 1703, Ho Chi Minh road, which passes Ea Khal commune, Ea H’leo district, a vehicle with license plate 51B -50.051 showed some suspicious signs as it was travelling from Kon Tum province to Ho Chi Minh City. The Environmental Police Department cooperated with the Dak Lak Province Traffic Police Department to request the vehicle to stop for an inspection.

When inspecting, the police found 2 live pangolins; 10 weasels (1 alive and nine dead); two wild boars; and four porcupines, all with a total weight of more than 150 kg. The driver was Nguyen Si Tuan (49) of Kon Tum City.

Tuan admitted that a person from Kon Tum had asked him to transport those wildlife animals to Ho Chi Minh City. At the time of inspection, the driver did not present any document proving the origin of the wild animals.

This case is being investigated by Ea H’leo District Police.
