21KG OF PRODUCTS MADE FROM RARE ANIMALS DISCOVERED

Authorities discovered 21kg of products made from endangered and rare wild animals which are in need of priority protection.

November 25, Thuan An City Police (Binh Duong Province) prosecuted Mr Ngo Hong Phong (41) for storing products made from endangered and rare wild animals that need priority protection.

Earlier, the Environment Police Department (Binh Duong Province Police) had cooperated with Thuan An City Police, The Institute of Tropical Biology and The Vietnam Academy of Science & Technology to conduct an emergency search of the store in Binh Chuan ward (Thuan An city) owned by Phuong.

At Phuong’s store, the authorities discovered and seized 18 kg of products made of ivory, 3 kg of pangolin scales, 1 tortoise specimen and many other rare wildlife products such as tiger teeth, tiger fangs, tiger skin, tiger claws, leopard fangs and bear fangs.

Through inspections done by The Institute of Tropical Biology and The Vietnam Academy of Science & Technology, those products were verified as being made from animal groups representing rare and endangered wild animals in need of priority protection.
