LOOKING BACK ON THE EXECUTIVE BRIEFING EVENT “VALUING NATURAL CAPITAL”

Ho Chi Minh city, 27th October 2020 – CHANGE and WildAid collaborated with the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AmCham Vietnam) and British Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (BritCham Vietnam) to organize the event at Le Meridien Hotel. The event created an open space for discussions among business leaders, consulates, conservative organizations, and scientists to figure out ways business can develop pathways in the ‘new normal’ direction.

The event got the attention and participation of more than 130 leaders from the current top businesses, including Mr. Dominic Scriven (Chairman of Dragon Capital), Mrs. Dinh Thi Hoa (Chairwoman and General Director of Galaxy Media and Entertainment), Mr. Chad Ovel (General Director of Mekong Capital), Mrs. Hoang Thi Mai Huong (Chairwoman of Publicis Group Vietnam), and many more top leaders. Significantly, the event honorably welcomed Mrs. Marie c. Damour – the U.S. Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Mrs. Emily Hamblin – the British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Vincent Floreani – the France Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi – the India Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Mrs. Mary Tarnowka – the Executive Director of AmCham.

In the welcoming speech, Mrs. Marie C. Damour – the U.S. Consul General, emphasized: “The Government can not act separately and hope that they can eliminate the threats of trading wild animals. We need civil society, businesses, scientists, and social activists to establish relationships that are as solid and extensive as the crime network we are trying to take down. The  U.S. Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City always stands by Vietnam, the business community and organizations like CHANGE to support the efforts in preventing the trading of wild animals, and building a much more sustainable future for all of us.”

During a 2-hour participant in the event, besides the main topic, guests had the opportunity to share their hardships when looking back on the COVID-19 pandemic. They listened to correlative perspectives on issues of the environment and nature conservation, wildlife conservation, and sustainable economic growth throughout presentations of the guest speakers, including Mr. Dominic Scriven – Chairman of Dragon Capital, Prof. Jeremy Day – Oxford University Clinical Research Unit, and Mrs. Hoang Thi Minh Hong – Founder and Director of CHANGE. As a result, participants can consider making better investing decisions that ensure businesses’ efficiency and contribute to conserving natural resources for society and future generations.
