After more than four months and many rigorous selection rounds, yesterday (5th January 2021) the Gala for VIEWS Awards Ceremony 2020 took place at Sofitel Hotel, (17 Le Duan Street, Ben Nghe, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) to honour participants as individuals or groups who achieved the worthy of awards.
The ceremony had over 100 crucial participants: Ms Emily Hamblin – Consul General of the United Kingdom of Great Britain in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr Bez Babakhani – Consul General of Canada in Ho Chi Minh City along with attaché, Press attaché of the US Consulate General Ho Chi Minh City, Press attaché of the France Consulate General Ho Chi Minh City, Ms Ton Nu Thi Ninh – Vietnamese diplomat, Chairman of The HCMC Union of Friendship Organizations; Mr Oemar Idoe – German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ); leaders of top businesses, such as Mr Dominic Scriven (Executive Chairman of Dragon Capital Group), Ms Trang Le (CEO of Multimedia JSC Co. Ltd), etc.
The event also participated in various national and international non-governmental organizations, representatives of more than 60 press firms, and media companies. Those partners had collaborated with CHANGE for several years since the beginning when there was not much attention to these issues in Vietnam. And unable to mention VIEWS Awards 2020 VIP – 18 individuals and groups who had won the top places of the awards by their exquisite, from the most experienced journalists to the young writers with variant perspectives; from reportage that faced with dangers, armed criminal while tracking illegal wildlife trafficking routes to sharing experiences of connecting the love with nature. Never before has the state of wildlife been portrayed so authentically, sharply, and complex.

PRESS CATEGORY:
FIRST PRIZE: Lam Anh – Hoang Chien
The contest work published on Dan Viet online newspaper is an investigative series that tackled a cross-country trade line for tigers. They won 20.00.000 VND + 2 night on Deluxe room in Saigon Ha Long hotel (sponsored by Saigon Ha Long hotel) and 2 round trip seaplane ticket Ha Noi – Ha Long (sponsored by Thien Minh Group)
SECOND PRIZE: Nguyen Hong Tham
The contest work published on Thieu Nien Tien Phong & Nhi Dong online news is an article that figures out unique angles on the role of pangolins within the ecosystem, along with its poaching and consuming status. She won 10.000.000 VND + 1 HP Envy X360 laptop (sponsored by Phong Vu Co.)
THIRD PRIZE: Tran Minh Hieu – The contest work is a series of Cong An Ho Chi Minh City Newspaper sharing wild animals calling for help from poaching issues, bushmeat consumption habit, strange pet adoption demand to traders’ impulse happening complicatedly on social media. He won 5.000.000 VND + 1 Canon EOS 800D.
INCENTIVE PRIZES: 05 prizes for 05 individuals, each had: 2.000.000 VND + 01 present from the organizer. They were:
Nguyen Quynh Trang with the contest work on reporting news on the Environment and Resources channel – Uong Thi Bich Ngoc with the contest work published on Phu Nu online newspaper – Ngo Nguyen Huan with the contest work published on Nong Nghiep Newspaper – Tam Am with the contest work published on Lao Dong newspaper – Tran Dieu Thuy with the contest work published on Tin Tuc Newspaper.
